Excavation & site work

Solid groundwork for building sites, driveways and property improvements on rocky Maine land.

Layered natural stone retaining wall running along a freshly graded slope

Overview

Good projects start below the surface. Maine ground brings ledge, uneven grades, wet soils and rock, so we clear, grade and prepare sites carefully — water goes where it should, driveways hold up through frost and spring thaw, and new construction starts on ground that's ready for it.

Capabilities

What excavation & site work covers

  • Land clearing & grading

Sites shaped and prepared for what comes next.

    • Tree, brush and stump removal
    • Natural surroundings preserved where possible
    • Contouring and leveling
    • Drainage and erosion control
    • Managing standing water
    • Preparation for house sites, barn pads and property improvements
  • Driveways & private roads

Built to resist rutting, washouts and frost heaves.

    • Layout and gravel bases
    • Compaction and culverts
    • Surface grading and finishing
    • Reconstruction and repair of existing driveways and camp roads
  • Water management & drainage

Runoff diverted away from buildings to reduce pooling and flooding.

    • Perimeter drains
    • Culverts and swales
    • Trench drains
    • Crushed-stone bases
    • Grading to direct water away from structures
  • Demolition & site preparation

Clearing the way for new construction.

    • Removal of old structures and foundations
    • Debris removal
    • Clean backfill and subgrade compaction
    • Basement excavation
    • Preparation for new construction

From small residential digs to larger multi-acre sites, for homeowners, builders and developers — rocky terrain, wet springs and frost all shape how a site should be prepared, and we plan for them from the start.
